Hardware allies at Carnamah
In the three years since Ben Johnston and Mel Nouchy opened the doors to their FarmWorks' Carnamah outlet they have developed strong links with the tight-knit community.
The couple have decided that Carnamah is going to be their home and they are now expecting their first child.
They have also been happy to invest more in their business by widening its stock from purely agricultural chemical and rural merchandise to being a hardware supplier under the Mitre 10 banner.
Extensive renovations at the store recently have been done in preparation for housing the dramatic increase in the product range to deliver hardware for home handymen and local tradesmen.
A key objective is to carry high turnover stock lines at levels that guarantee availability and to avoid delays that can be frustrating and costly to those running small businesses.
Owner-manager Mr Johnston said that by offering a full range of hardware his shop can be a one-stop store for farmers.
"On top of this, by being able to provide hardware to the town's people, we hope that in some small way we are contributing to the needs of our local community,' he said.
