Ecopar Delivers the Goods to Farmers in Round One
First season sales of Summit Agro's new proprietary herbicide ECOPAR has greatly exceeded all expectations, confirming the strong demand that exists for this type of chemistry in cereals. Traditionally associated with generic chemistry, Ecopar represents the Summit Agro's first outing in the R&D arena.
Ecopar is a highly selective broadleaf herbicide (particularly on radish) which can be applied in cereals from the early 2-n leaf stage onwards. Its primary advantage lies in the fact that it is relatively safer at this early timing in comparison to many of its competitor products. By being able to get weeds out earlier, growers have the opportunity to lock in a higher yield potential. Additionally, being a contact herbicide, there are no residual issues which can pose risks to subsequence crops.
According to Roger States, WA's Regional Manager for Summit Agro, "having the opportunity to feature Ecopar at Synergy's Field days meant that we were delivering the product with great technical support behind us. Synergy has been conducting field trials and evaluation work throughout the launch process".
"Excellent field support and product knowledge was also a key to Ecopar's success. Through the FarmWorks network and independent agronomist's Synergy Consulting, Ecopar's success confirms not only that the product has a strong fit in WA, but will most likely become a product of choice for many clients. From our point of view, FarmWorks clearly understand the positioning of this product, a fact reflected by FarmWorks being the number one distributor of Ecopar throughout the state last season.
FarmWorks crop protection manager John Sachse commented that the successful sales were assisted by staff that are "keen to get behind new technology and in doing so support clients in optimizing returns."
