$160,000 Seeder Tops Pannell Clearance

With seeding just around the corner and strong grain price forecasts, secondhand broad-acre machinery was in strong demand at the clearing sale of Scott and Angela Pannell at Mt Madden last week.
A huge following from all parts of the state turned out for the FarmWorks' fixture including 232 registered buyers from as far north as Geraldton.
The Pannell family, assisted by the FarmWorks team, presented a quality display of machinery and plant and various sundries for buyers to peruse.
FarmWorks Ravensthorpe agent and auctioneer Neil McAllister said the sale was an overwhelming success.
'The sale went very well with buyers abundant and basically every item attracting spirited bidding from the 350 plus strong crowd," Mr McAllister said.
Vendor Scott Pannell presented the sale exceptionally well right down to the minor sundries and as a result prices exceeded expectation across the board, highlighted by the DBS bar that made $160,000;
Some of the better priced sale items included the 50 foot x 10 inch Ausplow 260E DBS seeder with a single hose kit topping the sale at $160,000 snapped up by Bakers Hill farmer Chris Henderson.
The property's tillage equipment continued to remain popular when a Grizzly Field Boss offset plough with 108 plates made $90,000 purchased by an anonymous Esperance-based buyer.
West River grower Darren Weich paid the sale's top tractor price nodding at $89,000 for the Case MX 230 FWA tractor with 1821 hours on the clock and dual tyres.
T & M Pearce, Hyden, acquired the Cat Challenger 75D tractor for $51,000 while the operation's two headers, a 2188 Case header and front sold to Wayne Parker, Kojonup, for $65,000 and the New Holland TR 98 header was snapped up by Murray Gell, Wagin, for $31,000.
